The world’s favourite compendium of random information, the Guinness Book of Records has decided to honour the achievements of the blockchain by recognizing the might of CryptoPunks within the pages of its latest mighty tome.

For its new book, Guinness has added a new ‘Cryptomania’ section to record the trials and tribulations of the blockchain, covering the most basic of trivia relating to the now globally recognized technology. Therefore, including such titbits as the first-ever cryptocurrency, the success of fan tokens, and of course, NFTs.

According to Guinness, CryptoPunk #5822 represents the most valuable NFT collectible in existence. After it sold slightly before the markets turned sour in the distant realm of February for a whopping 8,000 ETH ($23 million). They seem to have omitted Beeple’s Everyday’s from the top spot due to a technicality the record keepers themselves made up.

As a result of the new update, CryptoPunks now find themselves rubbing shoulders with some of the greatest achievements of mankind, such as world’s loudest burp (112 decibels), the largest ball of human hair (102kg), and the tallest hat (4.8m). Those with a fondness for trivia can get their hands on the 2023 edition of the Guinness Book of Records right now.
