AMC Theatres is continuing with its flirtation with the blockchain by partnering up with Sony Pictures for a Spider-Man NFT giveaway. Anyone pre-ordering a ticket for the opening day showing of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” is in line to receive one of 86,000 free NFTs.
Earlier this month, AMC revealed an interest in utilizing the unique qualities of the non-fungible- token. Now, they have partnered with Sony to test the movie-going public’s interest in the technology. So, each ticket purchased for a December 16th showing of the movie stands a chance of redeeming an NFT.
To qualify for the giveaway, tickets must be purchased via either the AMC APP, or the AMC website. Furthermore, all candidates must be AMC Stubs A-List, Premiere, or Investor Connect members, and importantly, must actually attend the movie in question. Following the successful purchase via a participating outlet, AMC will confirm NFT eligibility on December 1. Then, on December 22 will email a redemption code and instructions. Afterwards, lucky recipients will have until March 1 to redeem the token.

In total, 100 different designs are available for fans to collect and trade, featuring the spandex-clad webslinger, and other notable characters from the movie. All of the NFTs in the giveaway will arrive via the WAX blockchain, famed for its energy efficient and eco-friendly transactions, thereby allowing peace of mind for movie-goers and super-hero fans. If the initiative proves a success, expect a whole lot more non-fungible goodness from the AMC team.
