Critically acclaimed DJ and EDM producer, 3LAU, has partnered with Christie’s auction house, and the OpenSea marketplace. Together, this trinity of excellence will auction off a brand new 3LAU track.
Running from December 4-7, opposing bidders will battle to acquire the new 3LAU creation, “Waveform.” What makes this sale special is that the underlying smart-contract will transfer full commercial rights to the new owner. Thereafter, the destiny of the track is tied to the NFT and the one who wields it.
They will then hold distribution, remix, and mastering rights to the song. And that is not all, the overall package comes bundled full of excellent bonus material. Altogether, the auction winner will walk away with a copy of the track and full ownership rights. Plus, a static NFT image, and an awesome looking 3D render of the track’s waveform.

The sale marks a continuation of the Christie’s X OpenSea collaboration, where these two powerhouses of their respective fields combined forces for an incredible sale of art and music offering up the best collection of amazing artefacts from the next-gen art world.
3LAU’s sale highlights the sheer potential for NFTs in the music world, where smart contracts can add incredible value to the assets involved. Sure, you can torrent an MP3, or easily copy an image. But, can you copy and paste distribution rights? That seems somewhat unlikely.
