Movie theatre chain AMC announced it will be offering free NFTs to its shareholders. The initiative comes after the success of its first NFT giveaway which coincided with the premiere of the new Spider-Man movie.

The Kansas-based movie theatre said that current members of its investor reward program, Investor Connect, will receive a free NFT, as well as anyone else who purchases a stock in the company before the end of the year. The image contained in the NFT is a moving and glimmering gold-embossed medallion that proudly reads “I OWN AMC.”

AMC first entered the realm of NFTs in late November, when it offered 86,000 NFTs to the first buyers of tickets to the ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ movie, which is set to premiere in mid-December. According to AMC CEO Adam Aron, this NFT-infused initiative is thought to have helped generate the movie chain’s second best one-day sales for the premiere.

AMC is no stranger to engaging in current trends, which can be exemplified by its current meme stock. In addition, Adam Aron has appeared on a popular YouTube channel in order to gain further reach to the retail-trading crowd, and regularly tweets about AMC’s NFT-infused initiatives on his Twitter page. The company has also begun accepting cryptocurrencies, and hopes to add the Japanese meme-coin Shiba Inu next.
