Dapper Labs has partnered with Genies to launch a new platform called “The Warehouse.” The platform created by the partnership between the crypto gaming giant and avatar tech company will allow users to dress up 3D cartoon avatars that they create on the Genies app.
The Warehouse launched on December 13th to a small network of invite-only users, with both partners stating that the platform will be available to a wider audience in the upcoming months. It will see users being able to kit-out their 3D avatars with various different apparels, including shoes, backpacks, masks and other digital accessories minted on Dapper’s blockchain network, Flow.
The avatar accessories will mainly be sold for under $20 and buyers will be able to resell them, however, secondary sales will not take place on The Warehouse platform.
Although Genies has already experimented with digital apparel and accessories inside its own app, such experiments have always omitted blockchain and NFT-related elements. Genies’ partnership with Dapper therefore demonstrates their confidence in Dapper’s Flow network, which, whilst hosting a less decentralized system compared to other mainstream blockchains, includes lower fees, higher transaction capacities, and a developer platform that’s facilitates Web 3.0 perks such as credit card processing and forgotten password retrievals.
Genies will see this project as an opportunity to grab an even larger slice of the ‘digital identity pie’ which many fellow start-ups are interested in, however, they have already made good headway, having struck celebrity partnerships with huge names such as Universal Music Group recently.
