A limited edition NFT collection celebrating a momentous achievement by Canadian artist The Weeknd has begun at auction. The collection was made in partnership with Tom Brady’s NFT platform, Autograph, as well as trading-card veteran, Billboard collaborator, and founder of The Infinite, Karvin Cheung.

The auction for the seven-piece animated collection, which was created to celebrate the hit song ‘Blinding Lights’ becoming the No. 1 song on Billboards ‘Greatest Songs of All Time Hot 100 Chart’, commenced on NFT marketplace OpenSea on Monday, and will end on Thursday 23rd December at 1PM ET.

The collection features four designs, all signed by Abel Tesfaye (or The Weeknd) himself: a 1/1 NFT featuring The Weeknd’s November 2021 Billboard cover which announced his Hot 100 achievement, and three trading-cards all inspired by the music video behind the hit song. The collection can be viewed on Autograph.

Through this collection, we’re excited to offer music fans a new, innovative format that allows them to engage further with our rankings and deepen their connection to an important milestone in music history,” Julian Holguin, President of Billboard, said in a statement.

The collection is not the first celebratory release in honour of the achievement, as it follows a five-design trading-card collection that was also curated and designed by The Weeknd, Billboard and Cheung. The collection was released on November 23rd 2021, the same day that Billboard announced the achievement, and is available on The Weeknd’s merchandise website.
