Welcome to the 10th Cosmic Convos. I wish everyone a Happy New Year. The past year has been insane for NFTs. We saw jpegs turn into big brands, Facebook rebranding into Meta and huge brands like Nike and Adidas enter. It’s safe to say that last year was the best year ever for NFTs, but this year will be even better.
Although I have been into crypto for a long time, I bought my first NFT not even 6 months ago! It’s crazy to think what has happened since then. The space seems to be growing exponentially and it is impossible to estimate where we will be in a year. That’s what I like about it, unexpected things happen all the time. When I talk about myself, I have big plans for 2022! While I can’t say too much at the moment, I’ll be sharing more and more in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
I wanted to start the year with a banger! This week’s artist creates dream-like figures and his main goal is to break the perception of reality and what we are as humans. Personally I love artists that push boundaries and shape our opinions on what we find acceptable. I got exactly such an artist this week, so let’s dive into the world of Dreamz!
Rei: So Dreamz, tell me more about your artist name. How did you come up with it?
Dreamz: Before I was an artist I used to be a music producer and a lot of the time I would try to portray dream-like music, I used to make future bass and lo fi music. After realizing the competition involved in the music industry, one day I completely just stopped making music and started messing around with art. I noticed quickly that art was going to be way more profitable for me personally. I started making album covers and logo designs when I first started and slowly began to realize that music and art went hand in hand with one another.
Rei: Besides an artist, who are you as a person? Tell us a little about yourself in general!
Dreamz: The best way to describe me as a person is someone who is futuristic minded. I want to break the perception of what is reality and how people perceive it. I personally think that people in today’s society are very close minded.
Rei: How did you start making art and how has it developed over the years?
Dreamz: The main reason I started making art was due to one of my music friends who wanted some art made at the time I was dabbling in after effects. So I decided I would try to make him something that I thought was cool and he actually really liked what I had made surprisingly! As an artist I have only been dabbling in 3D art for less than a year. What is surprising is that 3D art has taken over my life for a while. I was fascinated by it, I thought it was something that I could express emotions with on a deeper level. Quickly I learned about as much as I could. I reached out to artists around me asking for help and having them mentor me. GHØST GIRL was personally one of my favorite mentors in a way. I even had spent over $200 on Sushi with her at one point.
Rei: You seem to be inspired by many different sources. What are specific sources of inspiration for you?
Dreamz: Some of my main sources of people that inspire me in the NFT space are; Ghost Girl, fvck render, Lane, Tech Keys, Jonathan Puac, Klaw Machine, and Bloo Woods. All of these artists have helped inspire me to create what I create today!
Rei: How long do you work on your art every day and how exactly does this process work?
Dreamz: I normally only spend upwards of 2-5 hours on art per day. Most of the time I put the rest of my energy into social media and growing that. I personally believe as an artist you need to be amazing at social media marketing. It is one of the key factors to become successful in today’s era.
Rei: Do you have a certain vibe that you want to convey with your art?
Dreamz: I want to portray dream-like figures that do not exist but are realistic. As an artist my main goal is to break the perception of reality and what we are as humans.
Rei: How did you start creating NTFs and how is your journey so far?
Dreamz: I personally started after making art for this one musician called yezzi a very underground talented future bass artist. He told me that my art could be NFTed and from that point on I have been diving deeper and deeper into this space learning so much every single day.
Rei: Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve in the NFT space?
Dreamz: One of my goals as an artist is to be able to create the most realistic humans possible and to be able to implement them into game engines for millions of people to use. I also want to be able to make people question my art and make people have a deeper understanding of what each piece represents. I also want to modernize the sex world and make it more art rather then sex. One goal I want to achieve in this space is to be sold out of 100 + NFTs in a row. Currently I have consistently sold out 14 NFTs in a row!
Rei: Which artists do you look up to the most, in the NFT world and in general?
Dreamz: Ghost Girl, fvck render, Lane, Tech Keys, Jonathan Puac, Klaw Machine, and Bloo Woods.
Rei: Judging on you art, you seem to think about possible futures a lot. What do you think the world will look like in the next 10 years? What place do you think NFTs will have in this world?
Dreamz: I personally think the world will look a lot more digitized, more screens everywhere with eye-catching ads and more 3D art in this world. I also think that the world is slowly turning into the next cyberpunk 2027 video game in a way as well. Personally I believe the world is most likely going to still be a mix of a utopia and dystopia in my eyes.
Rei: Lastly, where can people find more about you and your art?
Dreamz: They can check out Tezos or Foundation.
