The late Hong Kong and American martial arts legend, Bruce Lee, is being commemorated in an upcoming NFT collection. The collection aims to celebrate the life and legacy of the martial arts pioneer, philosopher, and global action film star.
The Bruce Lee Family Company and NFT protocol Ethernity will be dropping the NFT collection on Saturday 8th January 2022. The collection is aptly named ‘The Formless Form,’ as a nod to Lee’s provoking philosophy surrounding how to ‘be like water making its way through cracks.’
Like the title, the content of the collection is also inspired by Lee’s philosophy and teachings. It features artwork from various illustrious artists such as Bosslogic, Raf Grassetti, and Anthony Francisco. Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee, who is also chairwoman and CEO of the Bruce Lee Family Company and the One Family Foundation, had this to say:
“My father believed in honest self-expression. We’re honoured for the opportunity to collaborate with these extremely talented artists whose artistic expressions will help continue to spread the positive message of Bruce Lee’s philosophy and teachings to the world in an authentic way.”
In an announcement, the CEO and founder of Ethernity, Nick Rose, also shed light on the company’s excitement for their involvement Lee’s first ever NFT collection:
“We thrive off exploring opportunities for newly expanded worlds of important individuals, and an incredibly influential figure like Bruce Lee is a perfect fit for our great ambitions and endeavours. We can’t wait to give Bruce Lee’s fans new ways to celebrate his life’s work, towards which our team shares so many fond feelings.”
‘The Formless Form’ is not the first collection to commemorate a late pop culture legend, as 2021 saw NFT collections drop in memory of the likes of Jerry Garcia, Kurt Cobain, Muhammad Ali and Tupac Shakur.
