Over the weekend, NFT fans were whipped into a frenzy when the news broke of Beeple, a top NFT artist, teaming up with Metaplex and Render Network, to develop a new project on the Solana blockchain.
This alleged news came after Stephen Hess, the CEO of Metaplex, implied such a partnership at the Solana Breakpoint conference in Lisbon, Portugal. The announcement at the time gave the impression that the partnership was a done deal. However, Beeple has come out to deny that any such deal had been finalized.
“HHAHAHA, wow yeah so this is definitely not remotely accurate. I was in super preliminary talks with nothing remotely set or agreed upon it got spun up to this, LOL. C’mon decrypt at least reach out for a quote,” Beeple said on his official Twitter account.
After Beeple explained that he was in early talks with the company, Metaplex and its CEO issued an apology to fans and Beeple himself for the misunderstanding. As Hess said, this was a result of miscommunication between the various companies and parties involved but nevertheless took responsibility for making the statement at the conference.
Sadly, it seems fans won’t be getting the Beeple experience on Solana after all.
