Animoca Brands backed Web3 ecosystem, MADworld, has announced an exceptional new anime-inspired NFT collection. It has recreated images from the seminal manga series Ghost in the Shell in the traditional Ukiyo-e art style, all backed by wholly verifiable digital assets.
Through the drop, MADworld will launch a series of 500 NFTs featuring imagery from the iconic 1996 anime Ghost in the Shell. Then later, distribute a traditional Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock print to all NFT holders. The NFTs also unlock priority access to a forthcoming Ghost in the Shell game and Metaverse.

The star in the collection will be the genuinely unique Ukiyo-e physical woodblock print. A traditional Japanese art style that arrived during the 1600s features layered prints made using carved wooden blocks. Each is celebrated due to its innate imperfections and differing textures and shades. For the Ghost in the Shell collection, several woodblock artisans will hand-carve the designs based on imagery from the film. Efforts by the artisans will achieve the apex where traditional art, 90s manga, and modern-day digital collections converge.
“MADworld is excited to bring together three generations of Japanese culture through this groundbreaking NFT project. By combining traditional Ukiyo-e art, classic anime from the 90s, and 21st century digital collectables and metaverse integrations, we are entering a new era of fan engagement and community.” – Phillip Tran – MADworld CEO
