The ESPN World Salsa Championships marked its 15th anniversary on January 12, 2023, and to celebrate, it launched an NFT collection. While we might not usually associate NFTs with dancing, the organization behind the competition and Noel Roque, the CEO of World Dance Group, took the bold step to connect the two.

As such,  the WSC Golden Moves NFT collection was launched as a tribute to the competition’s legacy.

Details About the Collection

As per the official announcement, this collection pays homage to all the competition’s participants since 2005. In this vein, the assets in the collection feature digital art and video content of the various dance styles the championships has seen over the years.

Besides the sentimental and historical value that buyers will enjoy, the dancers featured will also benefit. This comes as the Championship has announced that the profits from the NFT sales will be shared with the dancers featured in the clips.

The NFTs, which are available for sale on both the Championship’s website and on OpenSea, were created with input from Paddy Jones, a veteran dancer and the current world record holder for  ‘Oldest Acrobatic Salsa Dancer’ who is also featured in one of the NFTs.
