While there are many big names operating within the crypto and NFT space, one of the most honorable is ZachXBT, an on-chain sleuth whose work has helped law enforcement track down crypto criminals. One of the latest of these was the role ZachXBT played in the seizure of hundreds of thousands of dollars in digital assets from Chase Senecal, also known as HZ online.

Details About the Case

As with many of his cases, ZachXBT spent months investigating the activities of a crypto hacking group and identified Senecal as one of its members. Following this investigation, ZachXBT found out that one of the wallets used in a phishing attack was also used for the purchase of a $41,000 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Watch.

He shared his findings on Twitter, attracting the attention of the FBI. As a result, 86.5678 ETH, a Bored Ape NFT, and a Doodle NFT were seized from Senecal. According to a statement from the FBI, Senecal had acquired access to a Twitter panel from a known SIM swapper and used it to commit theft. He has now been arrested and his illegally obtained assets confiscated.
