In a magnificent move set to reverberate throughout the metaverse, Decentraland has joined the Blender Development Fund. Therefore, the esteemed virtual world will help provide access to first-class 3D rendering tools to developers far and wide.

For those who don’t know, Blender is a powerful, free, open-source 3D modelling platform. In addition to being the subject of over 14 million downloads, it also serves thousands of professional developers worldwide and is maintained by a group of tireless programmers, backed by the Blender Development Fund. The platform sits on a General Platform License that ensures it will remain free for all time. But to maintain its excellence it requires funding.

Decentraland will actively support one of the core programs used to design it, ensuring its future use in their digital landscape. Furthermore, it will provide Decentraland with a voice within the development community.

Excited to announce that Decentraland is joining the Blender Developer Fund. Decentraland will be the first crypto-native project to sponsor the Blender Developer Fund.

This new accord began as a suggestion from a single member, which then spiralled into a full-blown movement. Following this, it gained traction on Decentraland’s DAO, before receiving unanimous consent for its inclusion. The rest is history.

Decentraland has joined the ranks of some of the most powerful organizations in the digital realm, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and Apple. All united with a common goal to maintain a free and open-source 3D modelling platform and provide access to users throughout the world.
