The creations of Dr. Seuss are making their way into the NFT world via a new mobile app called Seussibles. The app will allow fans to buy and sell a new collection of Dr. Seuss-inspired NFTs, which have been developed in a partnership between NFT start-up Tibles and crypto-gaming giant Dapper Labs.
The Seussibles app allows its users to buy ‘blind’ packs of five NFTs, where the buyer will not know which NFTs they will be receiving. The price of the NFT packs begin at $4.99, and increase in price as rarity increases. The app will also include a chat feature, where fans can discuss all things Seuss.
The collectibles featured will be based on characters from Dr. Seuss favourites Cat in the Hat, The Grinch and The Lorax, as well as there being 600 other collectible characters from titles such as Green Eggs and Ham, Fox in Socks, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, Horton Hears a Who!, Hop on Pop, and Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?.
In the early iteration of the platform, users will only be able to buy and trade their collectibles on the app, via the Flow blockchain, however the introduction of a secondary peer-to-peer network is expected next year. A web version of the app is also expected to be launched in the near future.
Susan Brandt, President of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, believes that Seuss fans already treat Seuss products and books like collectibles, meaning that the move into the NFT space seemed like a natural step that embodies Ted Giesel’s (Dr. Seuss himself) vision to expand his characters through all mediums possible.
