Gaming giant, Konami, is the latest big-name publisher to dabble in the wonderful world of NFTs, launching a 14 strong collection to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Castlevania franchise.
The unique collection is perusable right now on OpenSea, and includes footage from the original NES release, audio files of in-game music, and newly commissioned artworks. Each item will go on sale via a two day auction, running from 5pm EST on January 12 until 9pm on January 14.
Every NFT is a 1 of 1 collectible, and the first buyer also has the additional privilege of publishing their nickname on the Konami website. Apart from this, however, there is very little utility surrounding the NFT. Therefore, they will not grant access to additional perks or any in-game benefits.
Castlevania is one of the longest-running video game franchises in existence, making its initial debut way back in 1986 on the NES console, and spawning dozens of sequels ever since. As a result, it has become the subject of vast swathes of nostalgia, and consequently, still has a significant fanbase.
