Back in March 2022, the Decentraland Metaverse made headlines and won the hearts of its users by releasing emotes; programmable moves that users could express through their avatars. This meant that people could smile, cry, and even dance using their Decentraland avatars, opening up a whole new world of expression and interactions.

Now, months after the wildly popular emotes debuted, Decentraland is holding its first-ever emotes contest, the Music Festival Emote contest.

This contest has been timed to coincide with the upcoming Metaverse Music Festival, which will be held from November 10 to 13, 2022. Those who participate in the contest have the chance to win $MANA tokens and the title of the official Emote of the Festival.

To enter the contest, users only need to fill out a form and submit their custom emotes and are also encouraged to post them online with the #MVMF22 tag. The entries will be judged on several criteria such as fluidity, movement quality of the emote, uniqueness, and so on. All emotes must be dancing-related and only 3 entries are allowed per person.

Entries are open until Monday, October 31, 2022, 7 AM UTC and winners will be contacted by email. There are several prize tiers, with 800 $MANA for the winner plus the chance to have their emote displayed throughout the festival and $600 MANA for those in 2nd to 10th place.
